We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead the architecture, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network communications for WSSC Water, a valued long-term client. This role requires deep expertise in LAN/WAN systems and hands-on experience managing routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, DNS, and DHCP appliances. The engineer will collaborate closely with the IT team to implement technology projects, ensuring the seamless operation and integrity of the network infrastructure.

<>Key Responsibilities</>
  • Manage the administration, performance, and availability of LAN/WAN, VPN, firewall, DNS, and DHCP solutions.
  • Design, deploy, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot enterprise networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Plan and execute network changes, upgrades, hardware refreshes, and replacements.
  • Provide technical support and problem resolution for network hardware and software issues.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement data network solutions aligned with business and technical goals.
  • Use network monitoring and management tools to perform daily evaluations, capacity planning, and network optimization.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including addressing plans, network topology diagrams, rack elevations, and data flows.
  • Deliver regular reports on network metrics such as uptime, bandwidth consumption, link utilization, and outages.
  • Coordinate with ISPs and circuit providers to resolve communication issues and manage circuit installations and disconnections.
  • Provide cable plant management support, including circuit testing, installation, and disconnection.
<>Minimum Qualifications</>
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in network administration, engineering, architecture, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, DNS, and DHCP.
<>Technical Expertise</>
  • LAN/WAN Technologies: Strong understanding of networking concepts.
  • Networking Devices: Experience with Cisco devices, Palo Alto and Check Point firewalls, and Citrix load balancers.
  • Load Balancing: Knowledge of Citrix application load balancing and Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB).
  • Monitoring & Management Tools: Familiarity with SNMP, SolarWinds, and other monitoring tools.
  • Wireless Solutions: Experience with Cisco Meraki wireless solutions.
  • Network Protocols: Proficiency with routing protocols like EIGRP, BGP, OSPF and switching technologies such as Spanning Tree, EtherChannel, Port Security, and 802.1X.
  • Cisco Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Cisco NXOS-based routers and switches and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
  • Enterprise Operations: Experience in enterprise network operations, ensuring secure and efficient networking.
<>Certifications</>
  • Cisco (CCNP or higher) or CheckPoint (CCSA) certification is required.
<>Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):</>
  • Experience with AppResponse, Gigamon, Infoblox DNS, and NetMotion VPN.
