Summary:

A Senior Cloud Engineer is needed to lead the design, implementation, and support of a Data Platform as part of a central Data Modernization program. This role will focus on supporting new data capabilities and coordinating improvements with various agencies, such as the Department of Public Health and the Department of Mental Health. The position requires expertise in cloud data platform services, configuration, administration, and support. You will be a key player in ensuring that both business and technical stakeholders are aligned in achieving collaborative solutions.

In the first six months, you will collaborate with senior leadership and other technical teams to support the modernization of enterprise data mesh using tools like Snowflake and Informatica IICS, producing core KPIs through Tableau. As the program evolves, you will work on more complex tasks like machine learning and predictive analytics.

Detailed Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and support Cloud Database services (Snowflake).
  • Administer, configure, and support Data Platform services such as Informatica Cloud (IICS), Tableau, Cognos, SAS, GitHub, and MOVEit MFT.
  • Design, implement, and support cloud applications and AWS services.
  • Install and configure software on AWS cloud services.
  • Manage internal and external requests for data application access and permissions, while ensuring data security and protection.
  • Define and implement data security policies, authentication, and authorization for cloud-based platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and performant cloud data solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend new cloud products and services for efficient data storage and processing.
  • Monitor cloud data services' performance and strategize optimization measures.
  • Implement data management and governance processes for cloud data.
  • Establish system performance assessments and action plans.
  • Provide excellent customer service through email, phone, and written correspondence.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of solutions that meet requirements and expectations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience/Skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience implementing and supporting AWS-based cloud data solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud database platforms such as Snowflake.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud data services like IICS, AWS, and GitHub.
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration and data warehouse applications on AWS.
  • At least 2 years of experience installing and configuring applications using cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of cloud network policies and firewall rules.
  • Experience in SQL and PL/SQL skills.
  • Proficiency in Linux shell scripting, user security, and server administration.
  • Experience with data security protocols, including encryption and decryption methodologies.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with sensitive healthcare information and knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy controls.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • AWS Certification.
  • Snowflake certification.
