Job Title: Senior Cloud Data Architect
Duration: 12 Months (Tentative)
Location: Quincy, MA (Hybrid)

Summary:

A Senior Cloud Data Architect is needed to support the implementation of a Local Public Health Data Platform for the Department of Public Health (DPH). This platform will serve as an interface for local and regional boards of health in Massachusetts, handling key workflows like inspections and permitting, collecting and reporting public health data. The platform will use Salesforce, Mulesoft, Snowflake, Informatica (IICS), and Tableau to modernize information flow between state and municipal governments. The Senior Cloud Data Architect will work alongside an external consultancy responsible for building the platform and provide internal expertise through its implementation.

This role will focus on understanding the proposed architecture, validating it, and supporting the design and development of infrastructure to ensure alignment with business outcomes. Post-implementation, the Data Office will maintain the infrastructure and assist the Office of Local and Regional Health in achieving its data-driven goals.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in cloud data platform design and implementation and can clearly present data architecture principles. This role requires collaboration with both business and technical stakeholders, with ownership over tasks related to cloud data platform development, as well as establishing best practices and processes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and develop cloud-based data management systems.
• Implement centralized (Data Warehouse) and decentralized (Data Mesh) data architectures.
• Create data models for cloud environments, including storage, access, and usage patterns.
• Define data security policies, including authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, highly available, and performant cloud data solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend cloud products and services for data storage and processing.
• Ensure compliance with data governance policies and best practices in the cloud.
• Implement and manage data governance processes for cloud data.
• Perform detailed analysis and documentation of cloud data architecture strategies.
• Establish performance assessment processes and create action plans.
• Lead design sessions for the data layers, including ETL review and decision facilitation.
• Provide expertise in data integration using Snowflake, Informatica IICS, SQL, Mulesoft, and Python.
• Understand and work with Salesforce CRM.
• Ensure timely delivery of solutions that meet business requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Cloud Data Architecture, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL, and enterprise system engineering.
• Experience implementing data warehouse and enterprise data architecture principles.
• 3-5 years of experience architecting and developing AWS-based cloud data solutions.
• 5+ years of experience with cloud database platforms, particularly Snowflake.
• Expertise in end-to-end data architecture creation and maintenance.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain and propose solutions to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience with Unix, Linux, shell scripting, system administration, database administration, storage, and networking.
• Experience with Informatica (IICS), Mulesoft, and Salesforce.
• Experience working with sensitive healthcare information and knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS Certification or Cloud Data Architect Certification.
• Snowflake certification.
• Tableau reporting experience.
• Salesforce experience.
