Job Description:
Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed assessment of all impacted circuits & facilities in the customer Transport Network resulting from any planned inside or outside physical activity.
  • Analyze all available data, validate from live Transport systems, and investigate all discrepancies.
  • Prepare detailed and complete Service Impact & Risk Assessment report on the basis of above, within agreed to Service Level agreements.
  • Engage Enterprise Operations when required, to incorporate their services/ circuits into the report.
  • Run report of impacted circuits & facilities of specified circuit from BPI.
  • May involve some assessment of Wireless circuits.
  • Use standard customer proprietary tools such as BPI, NRM, CIMS, Swiss Army Knife or all other tools as specified in the Required Tool section.
  • Specialists may also log into active equipment.
  • Analyze requested circuit for accuracy by comparing reports from tools such as BPI with as built in VISIO or other formats.
  • Create a list of all impacted circuits in the standard template and submit a report to the requestor.
  • Post finished report in document storage location.
  • Identify circuits that are diverse, protected or linear.
  • All requests must be completed without error.
Qualification:
  • Undergraduate university degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering or community college diploma with certification or equivalent.
  • SCTE BTS designation or equivalent work experiences would be a benefit.
  • 8-10 years of work experience with a major Telecom Service Provider or Cable Operator in Network engineering while operations experience would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Fiber Optic, SONET, DWDM, CWDM, Ethernet and Digital Video Transport technologies.
  • Knowledge of Net Smart, Site Manager, One Control, PONS, CIMS/Object and NRM, Nokia ALU 1830, Swiss Army Tool(Ash tool), Putty as well as basic knowledge of Rogers Wireless Network is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, prioritizing and relationship building skills.
  • Proven problem solving and analysis skills.
  • Independent self-starter and quick learner who is able to work well under pressure and tight timelines.
  • Ability to present information and advise internal customers on proposed ideas.
  • Ability to advise on technical problems and review work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
  • Ability to analyze and investigate any discrepancies that may arise in validating different sources of data.
  • Ability to act independently to determine methods and procedures.
  • Ability to modify established guidelines, advise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners, and draw conclusions from comparative situations.
  • Ability to work from assigned objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other units.
