About this role:

  • Experienced FinOps Engineer/FinOps Practitioner to partner with Product Owners, Application Teams, Cloud Architects, Finance Team, Business & Technology leaders to drive optimization and support adoption of FinOps. This role will focus on implementing cost visibility and cost optimization capabilities to ensure ongoing cost optimization and governance. This person will use the FinOps Framework to provide clear visibility into cloud costs and drive initiatives that promote cost efficiency and optimization.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Drive cloud optimization and empower app teams to realize business value.
  • Discover cost-saving and optimization opportunities and actively collaborate with the app teams to support execution.
  • Implement strategies like rightsizing, auto-scaling, storage optimization, cost anomalies etc.
  • Manage cloud costs effectively and provide stakeholders with the information to make value-driven decisions.
  • Ensure that cost management practices are well-understood and implemented.
  • Use Cloudability to create and provide continuous cost transparency to app owners.
  • Encourage cross-functional collaboration to implement cost-effective architectural patterns, review resource usage patterns, and iterate on optimization strategies.
  • Collaborate with finance, technology, and business teams to mature FinOps governance processes including embedding FinOps functions into existing governance and architectural review processes.
  • Automate cloud cost management processes using scripting and other methodologies.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in cost management in a Google Cloud Platform environment.
  • 2-3 years of solid experience with AI services (Google Cloud Platform and Azure)
  • Minimum 2-3 years of In-depth knowledge of cloud services, architecture and cost mechanics (compute, containers, databases, serverless, storage, licensing, amortizations, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Terraform experience for managing cloud infrastructure and executing optimization changes.
  • Experience with reservation strategies and committed use discounts.
  • Knowledge of Observability, Cloud infrastructure, Networking, Architecture, Containers and Microservices
  • Knowledge and practical experience with SQL, Python
  • Knowledge of basic Finance & Accounting principles (budgeting, chargeback, accruals, etc.)
  • Effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an executive presence
  • Demonstrate ability to ask well-crafted questions and present ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and strong business acumen.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in an agile work environment with qualities such as collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Experience with on-prem or cloud data and AI/ML technologies and solution.
  • Passion for Cloud, FinOps and maximizing Cloud value for end users.
  • Certified FinOps Practitioner or Certified FinOps Engineer.
