The Director Corporate Strategy is part of the Corporate Strategy and Innovation Team and partners with Executive Leaders to provide strategic guidance on key business efforts. This role also assesses results and creates process improvements to solve complex projects efficiently and effectively. The Director Corporate Strategy is a strong communicator who enjoys leading and mentoring a Team that is responsible for developing and maintaining Southwest's corporate strategy.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. Responsibilities
  • Act as an advisor and thought leader to Executive-Level Leadership, helping to frame strategic questions, generate hypotheses, interpret analyses, and inform decision making
  • Partner with Senior Leadership to identify demand for Corporate Strategy projects, and articulate project scope and deliverables
  • Manage pipeline of Corporate Strategy projects to prioritize work based on impact, relevance, urgency, and Senior Leadership demand, and staff the project with members of the Corporate Strategy Team to ensure balance of resource utilization and Team development
  • Partner with Senior Leadership across the Company to ensure Corporate Strategy projects generate useful insights and tell a compelling story in the context of the internal client's function and Southwest's broader business objectives.
  • Provide expert-level thought Leadership and guidance to Corporate Strategy project Teams with ultimate responsibility for project success
  • Stay current on Company and industry dynamics to provide strategic perspective in executive level discussions
  • Create and maintain a perspective on the largest strengths and challenges for Southwest's business and use this perspective to inform various projects and discussions
  • Develop Corporate Strategy Team members' consulting skillsets from basic analysis and communications through insight generation, story-lining, and client management
  • Manage day-to-day operation of the Corporate Strategy department
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Deep knowledge of airline industry strategic dynamics and Southwest's business model
  • Expert-level management consulting skills including quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, project management, stakeholder management, executive presentations, etc.
  • Ability to build and manage advisory relationships with Executive-Level Leaders
  • Ability to combine quantitative analysis, qualitative learnings, business objectives, and intrapersonal context into a compelling, actionable storylines
  • Ability to apply learnings and context across projects to contribute to Southwest's strategic plan
  • Ability to influence Executive-Level decision making
  • Ability to coach and mentor Corporate Strategy Team members from junior Team members through strategy engagement leaders


Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED


Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
  • Advanced level Business Acumen in functional area
  • Seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • Complex issues with understanding of broad business impacts
  • Preferred: Consulting experience at a large firm

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

Pay & Benefits

Competitive market salary from $210,400.00 to $233,800.00 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
