Sr. Power Module Design Engineer

MPS is looking for a self-driven individual with background in power electronics and system. By leveraging MPS proprietary IC technology, products with innovative packaging, and design expertise to lead the definition, design, and product development to volume production of power module products (5V-100V+ inputs, up to a several hundred Amperes output) for a wide range of markets, including networking/communications, industrial, test equipment/instrumentation, and medical. The role is hands-on and requires collaborations cross-functional teams (IC designs, packaging, test, applications, marketing, field teams, and end customers). You are expected to have a solid understanding of the design parameters and perform design analysis/feasibility that involves simulation, evaluation, bench testing/characterization and validation to meet performance, reliability, manufacturing/test and cost to meet design requirements and targets.


Essential Functions:

  • Lead the design and development of multi-phase power module products
  • Perform electrical and mechanical analysis to ensure products meet all performance and reliability specifications
  • Customize and optimize magnetic design
  • Perform all required steps to successfully launch products to production
  • Work with different internal teams and field teams
  • Generate design documents and product datasheets


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hand-on experience in switch mode power supply designs especially in multi-phase core power design. Strong track records in system/power supply module design
  • Well understanding of packaging, thermal, and magnetics (with experience on power device is a plus)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in an extremely fast-paced, start-up environment.

Education:

  • MSEE with 5-6 years working experience or PhD with 2-3 years working experience.
