DATA PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST (as part of the B&IS CLIENT DATA STRATEGY team)

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Principal Data Scientist works closely with business stakeholders to understand their goals and determine how data can be used to achieve those goals. The Principal Data Scientist will lead and mentor in the design of data analytic and data science processes, create algorithms and predictive models to extract the data the business needs, and help analyze the data and share insights with peers.

What you will do

  • Leads and directs data analysis and data mining techniques by acquiring, process, cleanse, integrate, explore and investigate data sets by using algorithms and potential models.
  • Leads and applies data science techniques, such as data profiling, data modeling, and root cause analysis working closely with senior team members.
  • Measures and improves results and present results to stakeholders. Adjust based on feedback and repeat processes to solve for new problems.
  • Documents the analytic and data work products / logic and methods
  • Accurately define and execute "curated data layers" including transformations, aggregations, and other data manipulations to meet requirements
  • Develop standards, templates and procedures for the department
  • Manage the technical solutions of large programs & projects of significant complexity and risk
  • Maintain an enterprise level view across 'client data' landscape
  • Conduct on-going analysis and make recommended improvement to detective data controls, data extract processes and practices
  • Leverage knowledge and skill with a variety of query tools (e.g. SQL, Snowflake, R, Python, Business Objects), analytic techniques, tools, platforms, to analyze large quantities of data, from multiple sources, to design, create, and maintain, dashboards, business plans, forecasts, projections and presentations, models, algorithms, and statistical and financial analyses.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years statistical Analysis, Computer Science, Programming, Data Storytelling
  • Minimum 7 years Data technologies such as Snowflake and advanced SQL writing capabilities.
  • Minimum 7 years advanced R, SQL, Python coding
  • Minimum 3 years of reporting experience (Tableau, Business Objects, etc.)
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a technical specialist role
  • Minimum 5 years in Financial Services industry

Skills and Knowledge

  • Advance experience with common data science toolkits and visualization tools
  • Advance statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • Advance initiative, organization, and time management skills
  • Advance analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Advanced SQL writing skills
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient interpersonal relations skills, ability to effectively collaborate with others and work as part of a team
  • Ability work with high degree of independence, researches and resolves questions and problems, requests manager input and keeps manager informed
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Lead multiple tasks and projects; lead and guide stakeholders to solve new problems
  • Lead key initiatives on data mining and machine learning
  • Provide input to technology initiatives and roadmaps on emerging technologies in data mining, AI, etc.
