Network Engineering & Operations OT (Operational Technology)

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE
As part of the OT (Operational Technology) Networks team, the Network Engineering Business Analyst bridges the gap between business needs and the technical requirements of OT networks necessary to construct telecommunications equipment in FirstEnergy's Operating Companies across five states.
This role is essential for ensuring the infrastructure supports critical operations while aligning with strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Requirements Gathering & Analysis:
- Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to identify, document, and schedule work within our Site Communication Request System (SCoReS), according to the needs of the business
- Analyze current infrastructure to identify telecommunication potential, gaps, improvements, and risks
- Work with network project managers (PM's), architects, and specialists to develop projects and initiatives
Project Management:
- Assist in planning, executing, and monitoring network projects within SCoReS
- Ensure project deliverables meet business requirements and are completed on time and within budget.
Vendor Management:
- Evaluate potential vendors and service providers for network solutions
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships
Communication:
- Assist network design engineers in the creation of detailed project definitions.
- Facilitate communication between IT teams as well as present to sponsors and stakeholders the status of the communication track of business initiatives (PA LTIIP, OGM, NJ IIP, FAN ARP
- Learning & Development: Participate in training programs and shadow experienced network architects and project management professionals
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Bachelor's or associate degree in project management, computer science, technology, engineering, or business-related program
Experience:
- Totaling at least three years as an analyst in a similar role
- Working with utility or industrial network professionals
- Assembling general engineering documentation
- Using the terminology of underlying communications technologies including fiber (outside the plant), digital microwave, field area networks, SCADA/RTU communications, routing & switching
- Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
- Pursuit of project management certification desired
- Ability to learn new concepts in information technology, learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology
- Detail-oriented, motivated, focused, and hard-working
