Summary

This position oversees the financial operation across the entire family office. Duties include overseeing cash flow management, analyzing markets and economic data, overseeing the accounting department and budgets across multiple departments and entities, as well as developing financial models and projections, preparing reports, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making, risk management and other related tasks as required by the BarrónKent family office activities.

Essential functions

  • Lead and manage the financial planning and analysis function, providing actionable insights that drive business growth and operational efficiency on existing entities.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to assess profitability, risk, and performance trends on identified opportunities.
  • Help develop investment strategies and evaluate new business opportunities to enhance the company's financial position.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital effectively to support operations and growth initiatives.
  • Analyze market trends, interest rates, and economic data to support investment and financing decisions.
  • Lead budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with operational objectives and track the financial performance of each business entities.
  • Help manage financial risks by analyzing the company's exposure and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Consistently prepare and distribute detailed financial reports, forecasts, and performance reviews to leadership and stakeholders, including EOM and EOY close.
  • Utilize Yardi software to manage real estate and property management financials, including reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with department heads to provide insights into business performance.
  • Ensure financial operations and controls are efficient and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with outside accounting organization to ensure all documentation is prepared for audits and ensure pertinent tax filings and reporting are completed in a timely manner.

Preferred Experience / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and accounting, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Familiarity with family office, real estate, property management, or related industries is preferred.
  • Yardi software experience in a finance or accounting capacity a plus.
  • Morningstar investment platform experience a plus.

  • Experience in preparing and managing budgets and financial forecasts
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, demonstrates follow-through, ability to work independently
  • Experience with Yardi financial software is preferred, with the ability to utilize the platform for property management accounting and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present findings to ownership and leadership
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices

Work environment

  • Currently, remote work from home office, with all-staff meetings in person once per week in Downtown/Midtown Sacramento. Must be available to travel to Sacramento as needed.
  • May require future work in-office (hybrid in-office/ remote work from home).
