Job Title: Electrical & Controls Automation Engineer
Location: Southern, ME

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement processes, equipment specifications, acquisition, and system integration.
  • Evaluate machine logic and controls to troubleshoot and identify process improvements.
  • Provide advanced ladder logic troubleshooting to support on-site production and maintenance activities.
  • Act as a steward for the internal QMS change management system (Oracle's Agile PLM).
  • Integrate controls hardware and software into both new and existing manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform design of experiments, testing, validation, and data analysis.
  • Recommend and support new methods/materials for continuous quality and efficiency improvement.
  • Analyze equipment for process suitability and provide detailed improvement plans.
  • Create and revise manufacturing documents, SOPs, safety instructions, validation protocols, risk assessments, and technical documents.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop solutions for equipment, material, and process improvements.
  • Participate in teams to ensure continual improvement, safety, and compliance.
  • Use precision measuring equipment, hand and power tools.
  • Manage deadlines and multiple projects concurrently.
  • Apply knowledge of cGMP and ISO 13485 regulations and practices (preferred).
  • Utilize various material testing and measuring methods.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in engineering, specifically in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in regulated environments such as GMP, FDA, ISO, and USDA preferred.
  • Expertise with manufacturing automation technologies, including but not limited to:
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) (Allen Bradley Logix5000 preferred)
      • Ability to read/troubleshoot and generate ladder logic.
    • Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) (Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk View preferred)
      • Ability to modify/troubleshoot interfaces and design new functionalities.
    • Motion Control Systems (Servo Drives, VFDs, Stepper Drives)
      • Ability to troubleshoot control loops and tune systems.
    • Robots (Staubli or Epson preferred)
      • Ability to modify robot programs and create new sequences.
    • Vision Systems (Cognex or Keyence preferred)
      • Ability to troubleshoot and design robust inspection systems.
    • Electrical Aptitude
      • Ability to read, trace, and troubleshoot machine control systems and electrical hardware, and modify electrical prints.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in GMP, FDA, ISO, and USDA regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with cGMP and ISO 13485 regulations.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software (Minitab).
