Job Description
Quality Control / PLC Technician
We are seeking a Quality Control / PLC Technician to play an integral role in testing and ensuring the quality of our hydronic systems and controls. This position is responsible for performing quality control tests, verifying components, and ensuring that the final systems meet design intent and internal standards. Responsibilities:
- Read, interpret, and understand mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
- Perform quality control tests on incomplete or sub-systems and complete systems, including electrical, control, and operational tests
- Verify and test mechanical, electrical, and digital control components using DDC/PLC controls, VFD software, measurement tools, and electrical multimeters
- Ensure accuracy of testing and measurement equipment by following calibration and certification requirements
- Participate in troubleshooting, adjustments, and minor repairs of hydronic systems
- Log non-conformance issues and track root cause analysis action when needed
- Verify quality control tasks via line-items on a comprehensive department checklist
- Handle field service calls as needed
Qualifications:
- Two-year technical degree plus two years of related experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or field service environment preferred
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment, hydronic equipment, and PLC/DDC/comparable control programming and troubleshooting (preferred)
- Ability to read and understand electrical one-line schematics and mechanical P&ID
- Experience in quality control and PLC/DDC systems (2+ years required)
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and computer skills
- Ability to safely use small hand and power tools
