Job Description
McKenna Labs, a manufacturer of personal care products, is currently seeking an Associate R & D Chemist. Under close supervision, the Associate R & D Chemist performs a variety of tasks in support of the formulation and development of Personal Care and OTC products using creative and innovative solutions, processes, and protocols. This individual must be a self-motivated, detail oriented and energetic scientific person. This is an entry-level, full-time position in the Research & Development Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
Assist in the development of new formulations for different personal care and OTC products.
Assist in reverse engineering of existing marketed products.
Tabulate/plot test data, help interpret data, and design subsequent experiments with other Chemists.
Research product formulations and properties of raw materials.
Provide and prepare samples for laboratory and field testing for efficacy and safety.
Conduct laboratory testing of modified personal care and OTC products in line with standard testing procedures, recording observations, and interpreting findings.
Carry out innovative research to add products to products library.
Create sample products for customer approval.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses.
Conduct necessary stability testing to ensure new product integrity.
Record experimental data and test results accurately and in the specified format.
Focus on customer expectations, prevention of problems and strive for continuous improvement.
Exercise and monitor GMP and safety compliance requirements in the work environment.
Continue to gain knowledge of new ingredients, clean beauty trends and technologies in the industry and applies them into formulation.
Continue to gain knowledge of global regulatory changes and apply to current projects.
Manage multiple projects, duties, and assignments in a timely manner and under tight guidelines.
Must be able to work onsite.
REQUIREMENTS
B.S. in Chemistry or related field required.
1 - 2 years of laboratory experience preferred but not required.
To fulfill requirements of job successfully, an individual must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Good organizational, problem solving, and mathematical skills. Good verbal and written skills. Ability to type documents accurately and efficiently. Computer literacy required, word processing and spreadsheet skills necessary. The pay rate range for this role is $22.00 $31.25 hourly. Compensation is commensurate with level of knowledge, education, skills, and experience applicable to the position.
