Elyan Partners is a private equity team based in Paris (France), advising around €1bn of AuMs. Elyan Partners has a unique positioning in the mid-market buy-out industry: although our main geography is Europe (c.60% of the transactions), over the past 25 years, we have built an extensive network of relationships and an expertise in the US, which currently accounts for c.40% of the transactions.

In the US, we generally invest directly into companies ($25-60m per transaction), in majority deals where we are often part of the lead consortium as a minority shareholder, alongside US midcap funds, but with an active governance role and board membership. Sometimes, we also help our European portfolio companies develop internationally, specifically enter the US market.

Elyan Partners is a member of the Edmond de Rothschild Private Equity platform. The Edmond de Rothschild Group, still 100% owned by the Edmond de Rothschild family, is a wealth and asset manager based in Western Europe, managing c.€170bn across Private Banking, Asset Management and Private Equity. The Edmond de Rothschild Group has a strong network of offices across Western Europe which Elyan Partners leverages to scout for investments and add-on opportunities. Our core investment team is comprised of 5 partners who regularly travel to the US, 2 VPs, 2 Associates and 2 Analysts.

Relevant experience:

Elyan Partners is looking for a Head of Business Development for the US where it does not yet have an office, so the position is remote + travelling within the US.

Candidates must have at least 7-8 years of work experience at a Private Equity placement agent. This person must have a strong network in the US midmarket Private Equity industry, be a self-starter, very commercial, systematic and organized.

Candidates must be based on the East Coast and for the moment, happy to work remotely, in close coordination with the team in Europe which typically visits every month.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Business development and relationship management:

  • Identify investment opportunities which fit our investment criteria, leveraging both existing and expanded networks
  • Manage the firm’s network of investment partners (mid-market PE funds) and develop long-term relationships with new investment partners across the US, through regular proactive outreach and in-person visits
  • Coordinate and organize visits that Elyan Partners’ senior team members make to the US
  • Collaborate with team members on all aspects of third-party relationships, especially those related to potential partners in transactions
  • Help locally on due diligence and transaction documentation (contacts with advisors for example)
  • Help our portfolio companies on their development in the US (identification of M&A advisors, coordination of DD).

2. Commercial development, marketing and communication:

  • Contribute to the fine-tuning of the Elyan Partners' commercial strategy, particularly with regard to the sourcing and identification of investment opportunities in the US
  • Develop communication materials and strategies to effectively engage with potential partners in the US

3. Process and tool development:

  • Implement and manage tools, processes, and strategies (e.g., Salesforce) to accelerate and enhance business development efforts.
