The GIS Analyst role is part of the Office of Outdoor Recreation under the Bureau of Conservation's Office of Strategy and Planning. The position focuses on managing the Bureau's Geographic Information System (GIS) and supporting the Bureau of Parks & Conservation by producing maps, developing GIS tools, and performing spatial analysis to support decision-making. The employee will collaborate with staff across multiple divisions and participate in both remote work and fieldwork across Tennessee.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Bureau s GIS system and contribute to custom GIS projects.
  • Produce maps and deliverables based on organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with various internal divisions such as Park Rangers, Facilities Management, and Marketing.
  • Utilize geospatial analysis methods to aid decision-making and contribute to strategic projects.
  • Build and maintain GIS feature data in a geodatabase environment and through cloud platforms.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Esri software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience in creating, editing, managing, and publishing GIS feature data (both geodatabase and cloud environments).
  • Strong cartographic design skills.
  • Knowledge of geospatial analysis methods and Esri GIS applications development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Avenza MAPublisher.
  • Experience with Arcade or JavaScript programming for GIS applications and API integration.

Required Certification / Education

  • Not specified; however, a background in GIS, geography, environmental science, or a related field is likely preferred.
