Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior Silicon Competitive Analysis Engineer, you will provide critical in-depth insights into the competitive landscape of silicon technologies. Your inputs will be key to technical trade-off evaluation and future technology and product development discussions at our R&D lab of Samsung Semiconductor.

In this brand-new position, you will evaluate and analyze the technical specifications, performance metrics, and market positioning of competitor silicon technologies and products. Your discoveries will empower and guide SARC/ACL in our strategic decision-making, technology and product development, and market positioning processes.

  • You get excited about conducting comprehensive research on competing silicon technologies and manufacturing processes, including emerging trends in device and interconnect technologies, advanced memories, and state-of-the-art products (CPUs, GPUs, accelerators, and other semiconductor components).
  • You expertly combine an analytical mindset with a strong technical aptitude to thoroughly analyze and evaluate the technical specifications, performance benchmarks, and power efficiency of competitor silicon manufacturing technologies and electronic products.
  • You follow technical papers, symposiums, product breakdowns and deeply understand the emerging trends in the ecosystem to create actionable competitor and market insights.
  • You prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing competitive analysis and insights to regularly update our teams on competitors' movements, innovations, market disruptions and technology roadmap. This includes maintaining a comprehensive database of information and regularly updating stakeholders on relevant market developments.
  • You are a forward-thinking innovator. You will provide strategic inputs to influence the roadmap for our next-generation process technology and product design, and guide executive decision-making.
  • You thrive on driving cross-company collaboration to assist in the formulation of strategies to enhance our organization's competitive position. You work closely with engineering, product development, and marketing teams to integrate competitive insights into product roadmaps and marketing strategies. You also partner with the legal team to ensure compliance with intellectual property regulations.
  • You're a lifelong learner. You always stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market dynamics related to silicon technologies and products.


Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/relevant technical field, or 8+ years of experience with a Master's degree, or 6+ years of experience with a PhD
  • Proven experience in silicon competitive analysis within the semiconductor industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, technologies and device physics.
  • Understanding of process technology roadmap, challenges and opportunities.
  • Understanding of Stdcell architecture and layouts.
  • Experience with using benchmarking tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Pay Transparency

At Samsung - SARC/ACL, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $174,557 and $305,414.

Your actual base pay will depend on variables that may include your education skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.

Samsung employees have access to benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), free onsite lunch, employee purchase program, tuition assistance (after 6 months), paid time off, student loan program, wellness incentives, and many more. In addition, regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) are eligible for MBO bonus compensation, based on company, division, and individual performance.

Additionally, this role might be eligible to participate in long term incentive plan and relocation.
