Job Title: Human Resources Business Partner

Location: 100% remote

Contract 5-6 months

Position Overview:

The HRBP will work closely with the AVP of Human Resources to lead and manage strategic HR initiatives and projects. This role provides leadership and guidance across HR functions, supporting various business units within the college. Key responsibilities include overseeing compliance reporting and managing recruitment and new hire processes. This role offers an opportunity to enhance and implement HR programs that contribute to making the college an excellent place to work.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead HR Strategic Initiatives & Projects:

  • Collaborate with the AVP to identify and drive HR initiatives, such as improving the onboarding experience, staffing plans, recruitment strategies, and employee engagement.
  • Oversee HR projects from planning to execution, including timeline development, project plans, collateral creation, and budgeting when necessary.
  • Partner with departments and key stakeholders to implement special HR projects and new training opportunities for staff.
  • Act as the lead benefits administrator, collaborating with the AVP on annual improvements and adjustments to benefit programs.

2. Compliance Reporting & Recruitment:

  • Supervise the HR Data & Reporting Analyst and the Talent Manager/Recruiter.
  • Oversee the review and submission of compliance reports, including HCSO, ACA, ERISA, and non-discrimination testing, ensuring adherence to regulations.
  • Collaborate on Workday technical projects and support the HR Data & Reporting Analyst in refining core processes.
  • Work with the AVP to enhance the college’s talent management strategy, streamlining recruitment processes and providing training for hiring managers and search committees.
  • Oversee recruitment operations, analytics, and reporting in Workday while contributing to succession and retention planning.

3. HR Business Partnership:

  • Provide HR support and develop programs for multiple business units across the college.
  • Collaborate with leaders to identify human capital needs and implement strategies to address them.
  • Guide hiring managers through the recruitment and retention processes, using exit data to address trends and issues.
  • Lead initiatives such as new hire onboarding, performance management, staffing, and workforce planning for assigned units.
  • Act as a coach to managers and leadership, ensuring balance and support for both employees and managers while addressing employee relations matters and conducting investigations when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in HR or a related field preferred.
  • At least five years of senior HR experience with supervisory responsibility.
  • Previous experience in an academic setting, or non-profit preferred; PHR or SPHR certification a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of core HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, benefits, and leave administration.
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment laws such as TITLE VII, EEOC, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPPA, and related regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with strong presentation abilities.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with a consultative approach and experience in conflict resolution.
  • Experience working in diverse, collaborative environments.
  • Ability to develop, analyze, and implement policies and procedures effectively.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and service-oriented management style with a focus on results.
  • Strategic thinker capable of managing multiple tasks while achieving larger goals.
  • Proficient in HRIS programs, preferably Workday, and familiar with Mac and Google environments, along with general software proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
