Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Creative Services, the Senior Designer will bring the Fordham brand to life digitally across marketing initiatives and media platforms. The Senior Designer will assist and partner with in-house digital and creative teams to execute design concepts with the highest attention to detail and creativity in support of the University’s strategic enrollment, retention, and fundraising goals.

Essential Functions

Designs and produces a range of deliverables, including infographics, presentations, web design, micro-sites, emails, video, and motion graphics.

Executes, builds, and preps web-ready, optimized digital artwork for release to our email marketing and web platforms, including weekly emails, homepages (desktop and mobile), etc.

Manages the production life cycle of projects from design development to delivery of finished materials, including sending proofs, receiving feedback from clients, and analyzing metrics.

Collaborates with senior management and the University design team to create and maintain the University’s visual brand. Participate in the development and enforcement of University graphic identity standards.

Works with in-house and third-party photographers for events, general campus photo shoots, and art direct photo shoots as needed.

Communicates with outside vendors on projects as needed.

Assists in the creation of visual aspects of online marketing materials including emails, banners, landing pages.

Implements design and copy changes to files quickly and accurately.

Works with the wider creative team to develop processes that promote quality and manage workload effectively, recommending more efficient, time-saving methods when applicable.

Proactively solves production/creative-related issues; Resolves any artwork and quality issues that arise during production.

Stays abreast of new techniques and trends in multi-channel, multi-medium marketing efforts, understanding when and how these skills can best be utilized.

Helps develop and manage photography and creative assets database, organizing photo and design assets, archiving and maintaining past projects.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or communications design.

Minimum of 4 years of brand design and development experience.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

Excellent communication (verbal, written, visual); ability to propose ideas across teams, and contextualize multiple ideas about one another.

Proficiency in print design and production.

Demonstrated front-end development and knowledge of CSS / HTML required

Experience with photography, including digital cameras and scanning and digital asset management.

Ability to create animation sequences, edit videos, and create motion graphics.

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Sketch, web authoring software, and After Effects.

Proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Keynote) and Google Suite (Slides, Sheets).

An understanding of the constraints and capabilities of digital production.

Demonstrated effective communication across many mediums.

Ability to think critically and develop advanced, creative designs based on concepts and the target audience

A self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines, take ownership of work, and follow up on projects through to completion.

Highly organized and able to tackle multiple projects at once and prioritize workload.

A keen eye for detail and consistency.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Starting Salary $85,000

Maximum Starting Salary $95,000
