Job Description:

As the Inside Sales Engineer, you are expected to prepare accurate scope letters and cost estimates for HVAC controls and building automation systems for mechanical construction and tenant improvement projects: including plan/spec, design build and conceptual budgets.

  • Candidates must be able to work full-time at our Santa Fe Springs office with the flexibility to attend site walks.
  • Possible career paths to: Senior Estimator, Sales, and Design Engineer.
  • This position will report to: Pre-Construction Manager.
  • Compensation range: Commensurate with Experience.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform site surveys and attend pre-bid walkthroughs related to HVAC controls and energy management systems.
  • Communicate with the client, gather all necessary data, and analyze all information to assemble complete project cost.
  • Analyze mechanical/electrical/plumbing construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for HVAC control and energy management systems.
  • Thoroughly review front ends and specifications for scope or pricing impact items to prepare conceptual estimates for budgeting projects.
  • Prepare scope letters which will be distributed to sub-contractors and clients.
  • Obtain and evaluate material, equipment, and subcontractor quotes.
  • Learn all software programs utilized in the day-to-day business operations of the company.
  • Attend turnover meetings for awarded projects and inform project managers and engineers details of the specific project.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associates or Technical Degree related to Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Candidates must possess a “team” orientated attitude, strong communication skills, a higher-level of organizational and attention-to-detail consciences.
  • Ability to read, interpret technical documents, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers.
  • Excellent written communication, interpersonal skills, and time management skills.
  • Be able to:
    • Lift and carry up to 25lbs
    • Sit for an extended period of time
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Familiar with BAS (Building Automation System) and their components.
  • Knowledge of different types of HVAC systems and their components.
  • Experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree with a focus in S.T.E.M.


Special Conditions Required:

  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license.
  • Must be able to attend site surveys.
  • Final candidate subject to background check. As a federal contractor, Next Level is required to use E-Verify to confirm the work status of individuals assigned to perform substantial work under certain federal contracts/subcontracts.
