DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of transportation construction activities. This includes assisting in the verification of grades, elevations, and the layout of structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. You will also conduct inspections on the application of various materials, including cement concrete, bituminous concrete, drainage components, and other relevant materials.
Additionally, you will carry out compaction testing using visual non-movement methods to assess the integrity of sub-surface layers, soils, and aggregates. Your position will require regular interaction with departmental personnel, as well as representatives from federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the public, to facilitate the smooth administration of projects.
You will be tasked with maintaining comprehensive project documentation, which includes master diary entries, mathematical calculations, item quantity assessments, project cost evaluations, work orders, time extension requests, and other necessary records, whether manually or electronically. Furthermore, you will play a key role in addressing and resolving any field-related issues that may arise during the construction process.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or
- Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or
- Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
