Job Title: AWS CloudOps Engineer
Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Contract Type: Contract-to-Hire
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior CloudOps Engineer to join our team. This role will be a contract-to-hire position, with the opportunity to transition into a leadership role based on performance and organizational needs. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in AWS core services, a strong understanding of cloud operations, and some leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- AWS Core Services:
- Design, deploy, and manage AWS resources including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and VPC.
- Ensure effective utilization and optimization of core AWS services.
- AWS Networking:
- Architect and manage VPC configurations including subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, and peering connections.
- Implement and manage AWS networking services such as Direct Connect, Route 53, and Elastic Load Balancing (ELB).
- AWS Security:
- Configure and manage IAM (Identity and Access Management) policies, roles, and multi-account setups with AWS Organizations.
- Apply security best practices for EC2, RDS, S3, and other core services, including encryption mechanisms (KMS, SSL/TLS).
- AWS Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Automate infrastructure deployment using AWS CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Utilize AWS SDKs and CLI for scripting and automation.
- AWS Monitoring and Logging:
- Implement and manage CloudWatch for monitoring and alerting.
- Utilize AWS CloudTrail for logging and auditing.
- Integrate third-party monitoring tools like Datadog or New Relic as needed.
- AWS Database Services:
- Manage and optimize Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, and Redshift.
- Oversee database migration services (DMS), data replication, and backups.
- Containerization:
- Work with container services including Amazon ECS, EKS, and EKS.
- AWS Cost Management:
- Monitor and optimize AWS costs using Cost Explorer and Trusted Advisor.
- Implement cost-saving strategies such as Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Spot Instances.
- Disaster Recovery and High Availability:
- Design and implement disaster recovery strategies using AWS services like Route 53, S3, and EC2 Auto Scaling.
- Ensure high availability with Multi-AZ deployments, Elastic Load Balancers, and Auto Scaling Groups.
- AWS Compliance and Governance:
- Understand and apply AWS compliance frameworks and manage policies using AWS Config, Artifact, and AWS Organizations.
Qualifications:
- Proven hands-on experience with AWS core services and cloud operations.
- Proficiency in AWS networking, security, automation, and monitoring.
- Experience with AWS container services and database management.
- Strong background in cost management and disaster recovery strategies.
- Understanding of AWS compliance and governance frameworks.
- Leadership experience or the potential to transition into a leadership role.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
