Overview
Corporate Banking (CB) is a technology centric business, with an increasing move to real-time processing, an increasing appetite from customers for integrated systems and access to supporting data. Joining our team is a unique opportunity to help rebuild the core of some of our most mission critical processing systems from the ground-up. In this role, you will collaborate with senior leaders and support key initiatives across the technology landscape. You will work closely with stakeholders throughout the organization to understand their plans, assess impacts, and coordinate dependencies, ensuring our technology infrastructure meets the highest standards of efficiency and regulatory compliance. As part of our global team, you will work on various components as a Software Engineer, and your role will include specification, development, as well as the testing and rollout of new features.
What We Offer You
It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $125,000 to $203,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. - Act as part of a talented software team that works on mission-critical platform, leverage best practices, and influence decisions, and develop swarm-like cloud ready application components from conceptualization and requirements, through design, to deployment
- Java/Kotlin applications development in an Agile Collaborative environment while leading expertise in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design to development & testing; write clear, maintainable, and reusable code and take part in code reviews
- Collaborate with engineers, influence, and contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions and specifications; be a hands-on lead engineer consistently reviewing architecture, designs, quality, and drive re-use and best practice
- Lead Research and Design (RnD) mini projects used as building blocks and/or blueprints for the mainstream applications design and development; Deliver state of the art solutions and be a hands-on technologist
- Partner with the UI/UX design team, architects, business analysts and stakeholders situated in multiple regions and time-zones to understand requirements, designing, developing, and delivering applications for mission-critical systems, while co-working with Quality Assurance (QA) team on test automation of new and existing functionality
- Mentor and direct more junior developer
- You will play leading role in talented software team, providing your guidance and influence to core design and decision making, growing team expertise, lead RnD and component development, actively engaging in design sessions with the global development team, while also partnering with the other engineers on code reviews and pair programming sessions
- As a Java Engineer, you will also partner with the product team, enterprise infrastructure architects and engineers in test to optimize the solution delivery by integrating with appropriate control frameworks
- Partner with enterprise risk team and production services to ensure continuous adherence to technology policies including technology roadmap compliance, collaborate and maintain clear and open communication with the teams, mentor junior engineers, provide insight, and share experience with entire Engineering organization
- Bachelors or Masters (preferred) degree in the field of computer science and/or technology
- Strong experience with all Agile software development frameworks and processes, and software design, as well as Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST API, PostgreSQL or Oracle or other Structured Query Language (SQL) databases
- Experience in designing and implementing distributed enterprise applications with high volume and low latency requirements, Unix OS, Unix Shell, scripting, establishing and running DevOps operations; experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) tools like Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, Ansible, etc., leading production issues analysis from detection to resolution, and in rapidly adopting and integrating new technologies
- Knowledge in or readiness to learn quickly Kotlin, Koin, Ktor, MongoDB, Kafka, in or readiness to learn quickly React, Java Script, Typescript and other User Interface (UI) technologies, and in any container runtime environments (Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift, etc.)
- Experience implementing applications onto Cloud Platform (AWS/Azure/Goggle Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)) is a plus
- Ability to set the standard for excellence in their role as an engineer and make wise decisions, despite ambiguity, be it people, technical, business, or creative, challenge assumptions when warranted and make suggestions for better approaches, and to treat others with respect at all times, independent of their status or role in the organization
