Position Overview:


In this position, the candidate will play a key role in supporting the development of optical waveguide circuit devices, setting up and improving device testing. You will work closely with design, software, process, mechanical / electrical engineers and other team members to ensure on time delivery of quality products. This may lead to management of others within or outside the company.

Responsibilities:


  • Write robust code to analyze data from complex optical chips and create reports.
  • Write code to analyze data for trends
  • Assist in maintaining optical data in MongoDB database
  • Learn and implement internal optical design tools.
  • Support analysis of collected data and help prepare detailed reports.
  • Maintain accountability for data collection systems and computing resources assigned to project.
  • Contribute to the creation of monitors, alerts, dashboards and metrics to drive continuous improvements.
  • Identify areas for automation and create or participate in the solution with scripting or coding skills.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Support mainly R&D but also, production line, and sales activities.
Requirements:


  • Comfortable with large datasets.
  • Proven expertise in Python, Git and MongoDB
  • Able to convert mathematical ideas into code
  • Familiar with Fourier transform and related functions
  • Familiarity with the physics of light propagation
  • Interested in working in a fast-paced team environment
  • Some experience with designing optical chips would be an asset
  • Some experience with optical simulations (FDTD, BPM, FEM) would be an asset
  • Being able to work with flexible schedule and on call when dealing with critical tasks.
  • M.S. (Ph.D. is welcome) in Computer Science, Engineering (inc. electrical, systems, computer, software, etc. ), Physics, Mathematics, or related fields.
