AERMOR is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer I to be responsible for supporting the implementation and management of cybersecurity measures for Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) systems. The Cybersecurity Engineer I works under the guidance of senior cybersecurity professionals to protect critical information systems from cyber threats. This role involves assisting in the application of cybersecurity policies, performing vulnerability assessments, and ensuring systems comply with Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of security controls in accordance with DoD and Navy cybersecurity policies.
- Work with senior cybersecurity engineers to ensure systems meet NIST SP 800-53 security standards.
- Provide support for the development of security policies and procedures to protect Navy systems
- Assist in conducting vulnerability assessments and security audits of Navy systems
- Use tools such as Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM) to track and report vulnerabilities
- Support the identification and remediation of security risks in coordination with senior security personnel
- Assist in maintaining documentation related to system security, including risk assessments and compliance reports
- Support the preparation of security authorization packages for Navy systems in compliance with RMF requirements
- Ensure all systems are properly configured and continuously monitored to comply with Navy security standards
- Provide support in responding to cybersecurity incidents and implementing mitigation strategies
- Knowledgeableofcybersecurity concepts and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Must possess an IAM Level I certification, such as Security+, Cloud+, CAP or similar.
- Familiarity with security tools like eMASS and VRAM for tracking vulnerabilities and managing security controls is preferred.
- Willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic cybersecurity environment focused on protecting Navy information systems
