Job Description:

Position Overview

• As a Senior iSeries Administrator, you will ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of our AS400 environment.


• Your duties will include system configuration, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, user management, and implementing backup and disaster recovery procedures.


• Additionally, you will collaborate with other IT teams to integrate AS400 systems with other platforms and applications.
  The successful candidate for this role will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, experience with multiple technology platforms, solid communication skills, the ability to work well within and across teams, and a desire to continue learning and strive for continual improvement.


• This is an onsite position. Some short travel assignments should be expected, including occasional after-hours and weekend support.


• The employee is expected to adhere to ethical policies and practices as established by the client.

Responsibilities:

• IBM iSeries hardware administration


• Installing Power Servers, IBM iOS updates, and PTFs, including legacy AS/400


• Working with HMC & LPAR's including VIOS


• Setup LPARs


• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls according to security policies


• Perform system restores and disaster recovery testing


• Perform system backups


• Administration of the IBM system's HA configuration (MIMIX)


• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps


• Service desk activities as they relate to the iSeries


• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices related to AS400 administration

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Precisely Mimix High Availability Software a plus


• Knowledge of Virtual Storage, VTLs, and Flash storage (IBM v7000 Series)


• Knowledge of fiber switch zoning and configuration


• Familiarity with Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is highly preferred


• Ability to create SQL statements to alter data is preferred
