Job Description:


The Business Intelligence / Data Visualization Specialist is responsible for transforming raw data into meaningful insights through the creation of compelling and interactive visualizations. This role plays a crucial part in helping stakeholders understand complex data, identify trends, and make informed business decisions.


Roles and Responsibilities:



  • Data Analysis and Interpretation

  • Collect, clean, and analyze data from various sources.

  • Identify trends, patterns, and outliers in complex datasets.

  • Draw conclusions and insights from data analysis to support business decision-making.


Data Visualization Development:



  • Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.

  • Create clear and concise visual representations of data to communicate key findings effectively.

  • Tailor visualizations to specific audiences and their needs.


Data Storytelling:



  • Present data insights in a compelling and engaging way, using storytelling techniques.

  • Communicate complex information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Collaboration and Communication:



  • Work closely with stakeholders across different departments to understand their data needs and objectives.

  • Gather requirements and translate them into effective visualizations.

  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and persuasive manner.


Technical Skills:



  • Proficient in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik Sense, PowerPoint).

  • Strong understanding of data analysis techniques and methodologies.

  • Experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL).

  • Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes is a plus.


Other Responsibilities:



  • Stay up to date with the latest data visualization trends and best practices.

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of data visualization standards and processes.

  • May be involved in data modeling and database design.


Recommended Experience:


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field


Experience:



  • 5+ years of experience in a business intelligence or data analysis role, with a focus on data visualization


Specific Skills:



  • Proven ability to create compelling and informative data visualizations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Bonus Points:



  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, other Enterprise Data Lake solutions).

  • Knowledge of data science and machine learning concepts.
