Job Description

The Digital Asset Management Specialist at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is responsible for maintaining the digital asset management (DAM) and content library systems, identifying improvements, and populating the platforms. The Specialist works in conjunction with the Director for Creative Operations to understand how digital assets, including photography, graphics, videos, content, and consent forms, are being stored, tagged, and searched for. They are responsible for thinking strategically about how to best leverage the digital asset management system across the organization. The Digital Asset Management Specialist leads a sustainable workflow to keep digital assets accessible and up to date in the system.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of digital assets, ensuring accurate cataloging and metadata management for easy retrieval and usage.
  • Collaborate with the Director for Creative Operations and vendors to configure new components of the system and integrate any new processes into the workflow.
  • Develop taxonomies and lead keyword normalization efforts, consolidating duplicative terms and creating new relationships.
  • Implement data governance policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and standards for data security and privacy.
  • Assist with the creation of digital stewardship presentations.
  • Curate digital assets based on provided criteria for projects across the organization.
  • Apply best practices in content management.
  • Develop training materials and conduct sessions for staff on data management best practices, ensuring proper documentation and knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Consult with users to understand pain points and improve user experience.
  • Revise records for accuracy and adherence to standards as needed.
  • Optimize automated methods of content categorization and integration with other systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in library science or related discipline.
  • 5+ years digital asset management experience.
  • Experience with digital asset management systems, including creating metadata records, organizing, tagging and file taxonomy.
  • Experience with digital content and database systems.
  • Thorough understanding of system development and asset categorization protocols.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud products.
  • Strong analytical and process/systems thinking skills.
  • Photography and videography experience a plus.
