In the plan to create a new hub for mRNA-based vaccine discovery in Cambridge, we are building new laboratories that will be focused on the development of state-of-the-art methods that will be supporting deep product understanding, process and product development, as well as testing of pre-clinical and clinical samples for new mRNA-based vaccines.

We are looking for a highly collaborative, innovative cell biologist with experience in multiple innate and adaptive in vitro immune assays and 3D models who can contribute to multiple projects and help advance a wide variety of vaccine candidates through preclinical development.

We are looking for a highly motivated cell biologist with experience in primary cell culture and in vitro assays who can contribute to multiple projects to help advance a wide variety of vaccine candidates through preclinical development. He/she will also participate in the set-up of complex models such as organs on chip or organoids. Data generated by the associate scientist will provide critical information to enable strategic decision making by the vaccine project teams. Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform in vitro assays to measure a variety of cellular responses on different cell types or tissues.
  • Optimize cell culture conditions for primary cells, cell lines and complex cell culture models.
  • Analyze, interpret, and record experimental results and present them in written/oral communications.
  • Write and revise protocols and maintain accurate records in electronic notebook
  • Work cross-functionally with scientists in other groups to characterization mRNA and protein vaccine platforms
  • Provide key data for publications in scientific journals or patent filings.
  • Collaborate and assist senior team members


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with 2+ years of experience pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry, academic or government institutes
  • Experience working with cell lines, primary cell culture or human biological samples
  • Experience with ligand-binding assays, and flow cytometry or high-content imaging or molecular biology techniques
  • Ability to work in person at the Cambridge site
  • Fluency in English.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with mRNA transfection, RT-PCR and viruses
  • Experience in assay qualification.
  • Ability to work in as member of a matrixed team
  • Demonstrated track record of written and oral communication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to work on multiple assays at the same time under tight timeline restrictions

  • Have practical knowledge in a wide variety of cell biology and immunology techniques
  • Demonstrate willingness to spend :80% of one’s time in the research laboratory
  • Have the ability to understand, interpret, and communicate scientific data to determine next steps
  • Be able to efficiently handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Display an ability to be successful as an individual contributor and team member
