Job Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations- Serve as project and day-to-day operational support, including the creation support, including the creation and distribution of marketing, training, and informational materials, usage statistics and reports. Scheduling meetings and securing meeting rooms as needed; other daily operation needs as identified. Oversee the Pratt website. Contribute to the daily operation of an academic hospital medical center library in all aspects of information and knowledge management including leading circulation, document, document delivery/ILL and general reference services. Provide reference services to patrons, primarily virtually. Assist with literature searches as needed. Understand, select, navigate, and search a wide variety of electronic resources and tools. Provide support in library record keeping and systems.
  • Circulation Functions - On a daily basis, charges and discharges library materials using online technology tools; serves as primary contact for Interlibrary Loans, including compiling and maintaining usage statistics. Performs other advanced circulation functions as needed.
  • Learning Modules - Develop and support learning modules utilizing multiple media formats and technologies to instruct the community in the process of implementing the use of evidence-based practice in the clinical research setting, both in person and virtually.
  • Subject Expertise - Serve as an Information and Knowledge Management subject matter expert (SME) in areas such as clinical/research, discovery, access and management of information and knowledge resources. Model an excellent understanding of Evidence Based Decision Making principles.
  • Collaboration and Outreach - Collaborate with researchers, clinical faculty, fellows, residents, nurses, allied health professionals or students on journal clubs, seminars, literature searches, publishing, and other clinical/research forums.

Required Education/Experience

  • Master's degree in Library Science (MLS), Master's in Library Information Studies (MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution. Will also consider candidates graduating from an ALA-accredited institution in 2024 with related prior experience
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with strong customer service orientation
  • Strong initiative and ability to function independently and as a critical contributing member of the Pratt Library Team; Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience using Smartsheet or other project management software;
  • Experience working in a medical or academic/research library;
  • Proficiency with data collection, analysis, and metrics reporting;
  • Fluency with evidence-based practice techniques and strong literature searching skills. Interest in teaching evidence-based principles to hospital faculty, staff, and trainees;
  • Proficient searching biomedical and interdisciplinary resources such as PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, CINAHL and biomedical databases;
  • Experience with LibApps platform (LibGuides, LibWizard, LibCal);
  • Experience with citation management tools, especially EndNote and Zoterothe ability to use, teach, and assist researchers with these tools;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse client groups across and beyond Cincinnati Children’s;
  • Understanding and use of major library/ILS systems.
