Base [Salary Range]: $151,300 - $166,430
Location: Remote


This position is also eligible for bonus in accordance with the terms of the Autosoft plan.

Who You Are:

The Associate Manager of Software Engineering embodies a highly skilled and self-motivated professional with a strong background in software development and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions. This position is a technical and hands-on role that offers a unique opportunity for an emerging leader to step into a leadership role to lead and coordinate a team of software engineers through the software development lifecycle. The contributions of the Associate Manager of Software Engineering will play a crucial part in shaping the company s technical trajectory and cultivating the development of world-class products and solutions, while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Guide a team through technical challenges, providing mentorship and code-level assistance.
  • Actively writing, reviewing and debugging code alongside the team.
  • Design and implement complex software architectures.
  • Lead technical decision-making on AWS infrastructure, database design, and application architecture.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and optimization of .NET and C# applications.
  • Manage the integration of modern technologies with legacy systems.
  • Oversee and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Balance hands-on development with team management responsibilities.
  • Set performance goals, metrics, and expectations for the engineering team, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Monitor resource utilization and identify potential bottlenecks or imbalances, taking proactive measures to address them.
  • Encourage and facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices among the engineering resources and their teams.
  • Initiate and oversee employee engagement initiatives to boost morale and job satisfaction.
  • Take ownership of decisions and actions related to team performance and outcomes.
  • Lead the team through periods of change, providing support and guidance to navigate transitions.
  • Perform any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Values.


What You Will Bring:
  • Strong knowledge of .NET framework for backend development.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server for database management.
  • Experience in implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as but not limited to Octopus, Azure Pipelines, and Git Actions.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in risk management to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks within projects and make informed decisions that balance project objectives while minimizing risks.
  • Strong understanding of software development and engineering principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in software development, systems architecture, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in managing customer expectations and handling difficult conversations.

Preferred Skills (Nice-to-haves)
  • Understanding of software security practices.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization for software applications.
  • Automotive Experience

Experience
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ year experience in leading engineering teams, or 3+ years in a Senior Developer or Staff Engineer role.
  • 5+ years of experience in backend development, with at least 1 years in a management role

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer.
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 15 pounds as needed.
