Position: Founding Engineer
Location: Remote
About the Role: We are seeking a visionary Engineer to join our dynamic team and lead the transformation of our current no-code solution into a robust, homegrown internal system. As the Founding Engineer, you will be responsible for enhancing the current platform to ensure we secure product market fit, shaping the technology strategy, and delivering a cutting-edge web-based marketplace along with mobile iOS and Android applications that parallel the user experience of platforms like Airbnb and Zillow.
Responsibilities
Product Development:
Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
Participate in the design of and/or directly design wireframes and mockups working with stakeholders in creating user-friendly designs and implementing visual improvements
Work directly with the Founder to translate business requirements into scalable, efficient, and user-friendly technology solutions.
Own the development and delivery of product enhancements by modifying current no-code solution (Sharetribe)
Drive the development of a web-based marketplace, iOS, and Android apps using technologies such as React Native, ensuring a seamless user experience
Technical Architecture And Infrastructure
Design and maintain a robust, scalable, and secure technical infrastructure.
Evaluate and implement the most appropriate technologies and frameworks for the project.
Ensure data privacy and security measures are integrated into the system.
Full Stack Software Development
Lead both front-end and back-end software development efforts.
Collaborate closely with developers to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
Ensure the application is responsive, performant, and user-friendly.
Quality Assurance And Testing
Implement rigorous testing and quality assurance processes to deliver bug-free, high-quality software.
Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure optimal performance and user experience
Monitor system performance and implement optimizations as needed.
Skill Requirements
Familiarity with JavaScript, React, and crafting UIs with components is needed.
Working knowledge of frontend web development
JavaScript: the programming language for the whole application
CSS: styling the user interface using CSS Modules
React: library for creating user interfaces with components
Redux: state and data flow handling
React Router: routing
Final Form: forms
Express: server side rendering of the React application
Node.js: development tooling and running the Express server
Familiarity with command line tooling is helpful

Start-up experience
Ability to work under limited supervision
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Proven experience as a technology leader, ideally in early-stage startups.
Demonstrated success in developing and scaling web and mobile applications using React Native.
Proficiency in modern development languages, frameworks, and technologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
