Payroll Manager - Direct Hire

We are recruiting for a Payroll Manager to support a rapidly growing Health and Human Services company in Sacramento, CA. Our client has multi-state operations. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Human Resources. Our client is a rapidly growing organization with collaborative culture. You will thrive in this position if you enjoy a “work hard, play hard” work environment. Salary: $125K-$135K

Qualified candidate will have strong payroll compliance, wage and hour and tax knowledge in multi-states. ADP Workforce knowledge is highly desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop policies, procedures and implement internal controls for complete and accurate payroll processing for internal employees and consultants on assignment.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in timely manner.
  • Managing department budget
  • Ensure quarter end and year end deadlines for payroll and tax filing are complete
  • Drive compliance with regard to corporate policies and procedures including IRS governance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.

· Ability to identify and implement process changes to technology tools and internal processes.

  • Define mechanisms to achieve accuracy, efficiency and adherence to timelines such as quality standards, ROI metrics and benchmarks.
  • Develop the payroll management/supervisory staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience leading a large payroll department
  • Must have strong payroll tax knowledge in multi-state.
  • 10+ years of payroll experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is required
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll law is required.
  • Three to five years of related experience managing a payroll team is required.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce is highly desired.
  • Ability to makes decisions with sounds judgment.
