Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Movie & TV Critic and based in NYC to join our team. The ideal candidate has a deep appreciation for movies across genres, excellent communication skills, and the ability to express nuanced opinions in a concise manner. If you have a portfolio of published reviews, we invite you to apply.

NOTE: The ideal candidate will be comfortable with producing written content.

Requirements
  • NYC-based and able to attend screenings and interviews multiple times per week
  • Proven experience as a writer, movie critic, reviewer, or similar role, with a portfolio of published articles (or equivalent)
  • A passion for cinema and a deep love for movies across a wide range of genres
  • In-depth knowledge of film history, genres, and industry trends
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, Journalism, or a related field
  • Active presence on social media platforms with a focus on film-related discussions
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices for online content
  • Existing relationships with PR for screeners and interview access is a plus
  • Experience writing movie and TV related news content

Technical requirements

  • A computer with a high-quality webcam and microphone for virtual interviews
