This position can be based out of the Philadelphia area (our HQ is in Plymouth Meeting, PA), or the NYC area. We follow a hybrid work model of 3 days/ week in office.

Overview

As a Data Engineer, you will develop robust data solutions that support our business needs. Your primary responsibility is to build and manage a scalable data pipeline that supports the organization’s long-term vision. You’ll design efficient data storage structures, data models, standards, and optimize data retrieval for reporting, analytics, and data science purposes.

Our product (Mobile App) is currently built using React Native, Typescript, Micro Services, GQL and hosted on AWS. We use AWS Services such as Amplify, Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and Cognito. We use Snowflake as our primary data warehouse.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain a scalable data pipeline to extract, load and transform data from multiple sources.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to ensure data models support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Establish guidelines, controls, and processes to make data available for developing scalable data-driven solutions.
  • Enforce data ingestion, integration, and access patterns to support both real-time and batch-based consumer data needs.
  • Write complex Python and SQL queries to manage data efficiently.
  • Conduct performance optimization of AWS feature sets and Snowflake databases.

You Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 3 - 5 years of Data Engineering experience.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills, you think through to the end result.
  • Skilled in Python or other scripting language for automation and data processing.
  • Strong experience with schema design, ETL/ELT and performance tuning within a Cloud Data Service environment .
  • Proficient in addressing data-related challenges through analytical problem-solving and aligning data with organizational business goals and objectives.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively, plan tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed and innovative, you build trust and are biased towards action in fast-paced environments.
  • You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure. You care about innovation.

Nice to Have

  • Certification in Snowflake or AWS is a plus.
  • Proven expertise in managing data platforms for large-scale data and diverse data architectures, including warehouses, lakehouses, and integrated data stores.
  • Knowledge of data security (including PHI and PII), as well as data privacy regulations (CCPA and GDPR).
  • Exposure to analytical techniques using ML and/or AI to assist data scientists and analysts in deriving insights from data.

The base pay for this role will be between $140,000 and $190,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
