Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team in Columbia, SC. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of network architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of our company's network infrastructure, resolving complex technical issues, and leading strategic network projects. This role is pivotal in supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term network optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable network architectures to meet the business s connectivity and performance needs.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network devices, including Cisco, Juniper, and Fortinet.
  • Monitor network performance and conduct regular maintenance to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance.
  • Develop and implement network policies and procedures to ensure efficient network operations and security.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for network-related issues, outages, and service degradation.
  • Oversee the integration of new network technologies into existing infrastructure and ensure seamless system upgrades.
  • Lead network projects, including LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, VoIP, cloud networking, and data center initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with servers, storage, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
  • Conduct network performance analysis and capacity planning to support future growth.
  • Manage network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration files, and incident reports.
  • Stay current on network technology trends, best practices, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior network engineers, fostering team development.

Required Qualifications:

  • 11+ years of experience in network engineering and administration in enterprise environments.
  • Strong expertise with Cisco and Juniper networking equipment and configurations.
  • Proficiency in network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and QoS.
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, NAC, and other security measures to ensure secure data transmission and network integrity.
  • Hands-on experience with SD-WAN technologies and cloud networking (AWS, Azure).
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN architecture, VoIP, Wi-Fi, and data center networking.
  • Familiarity with network management tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, and Nagios.
  • Experience with load balancers, IDS/IPS, and content filtering solutions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or similar networking credentials.
  • Experience with cloud networking and virtualized networking environments.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and network access control (NAC) principles.
  • Experience working with Fortinet firewalls and Cisco Nexus switches.

Education:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
