We are hiring an Enterprise Solution Architect with extensive experience in complex architecture practice and practical implementation. You'll work with high-impact professionals to solve complex problems for str ategic customers and partners. You'll communicate trends and innovative solutions and collaborate cross-functionally within the Microsoft ecosystem, including product teams, research, security, solution str ategy, indu str y excellence, and responsible AI.

The Enterprise Solution Architect , within the Global Engineering and Architecture Group (EAG) organization, is responsible for delivering high impact architectural, engineering and business outcomes across a diverse portfolio of our most complex customer project deliveries and pre-sales engagements. Collaborating closely with the rest of EAG, across solution architecture, data science , data engineering and security, they will deliver high quality architectural solutions and business outcomes based on the Microsoft Azure Platform. This will include working with the wider Indu str y Solutions Delivery team, our Str ategic Pursuit Teams, Azure Engineering and our Solution Str ategy teams.

The Enterprise Architect demon str ates deep knowledge of successful architecture and project delivery methods across large-scale custom development, infra str ucture and migrations. With a focus on coaching, mentoring, architecture and engineering excellence they drives transformational results, builds scalable capabilities and realizes business value for our customers and Microsoft Indu str y Solutions.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years' experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
  • OR master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years' experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
  • OR equivalent experience.

• 2+ years managing multiple, complex projects or portfolios.

• 1+ years' experience leading blended, multidisciplinary teams.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years' experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
  • OR master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years' experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
  • OR equivalent experience.

• 6+ years technical sales experience.

• 6+ years' project management experience.

• 3+ years people management experience, including managing consultant practice managers, technical sales managers, and/or technical architects.

• Technical or Professional Certification in Architecture, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL),
  Project Management Professional ( PMP) or similar.

• Travel for this position is approximately 25-50 % and is an integral expectation of this position as the needs of our customers and our business demand .

Solution Architecture IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,700 - $209,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $151,100 - $226,700 per year.

Responsibilities

Understanding Customer/Partner Technical Environment

• Gathers customer/partner insights from a broad range of stakeholders as well as the main business sponsor to shape and form both the definition and ongoing execution of projects. Anticipates indu str y trends (customer indu str y verticals, information technology [IT] indu str y). Leverages insights to influence long-term technology str ategy and influences others to focus and adapt business models, plans, and solutions to key insights.

• Works with customer/partner stakeholders (e.g., Enterprise Architects, Security Team, Development Team, Operations Team) and business sponsor to socialize both the business solution and the project approach to determine if changes are needed to the business solution. Where the cost of change is accepted by the customer, shares this feedback with the project team and the broader account team to make the necessary adjustments using mechanisms such as updating the solution approach and projected costs in presales and change requests in delivery. Uses broad patterns of feedback to develop str ategic and actionable insights and pre sen ts a compelling business case to program managers that influences product roadmaps and decision making. Contributes to Microsoft-centric operations and cadences to align with customer feedback.

Architecture Design and Deployment

• Leverages a str uctured approach to architecture projects using existing methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Iterative) that make use of existing reference architecture and established architectural styles and design patterns. Proposes and develops new solutions to scale across multiple customers/partners. Builds and maintains an architecture description document, an architecture decisions log, and a requirements/con str aints traceability matrix to ensure the rationale for the business solution's Architecture is known and understood.

• Defines and documents the architecture through an architecture description document, an architecture decisions log, and a requirements/con str aints traceability matrix to communicate the value proposition of the business solution along with the project approach. Leads complex cost-based and technology-based discussions to explain the architecture in terms of its build, deployment, and ongoing operational use to determine customer appetite for the business solution. Uses a business-value approach that values return on investment (ROI) and customer costs-savings over technical ease of execution.

Practice Development

• Generates new and/or improvements to existing intellectual property. Anticipates and addresses organization- and indu str y-wide gaps, patterns, and needs to drive changes. Identifies which ideas should be culled, with consideration for scale across customers. Drives the re-use of intellectual property and recommends practices in both pre-sales and delivery. Leads and contributes to internal/external communities.

Trusted Advisor

• Develops a deep network of internal/external relationships with decision makers at high-impact customers/partners to build influence in addressing problems/blockers and f acilitating a dditional views on the matter of interest. Acts as an advisor to external stakeholders. Provides direction to f acilitate relationships between others. Stays up to date on Microsoft's technologies, products, and services i n order to communicate Microsoft's mission, strategy, and capabilities. Provides guidance to others in doing so. When a ppropriate , develops a strategic relationship with key stakeholders within the customer portfolio, often as part of a steering committee, to ensure service delivery is on track and m ajor issues are being a nticipated , i dentified , and managed.

• Initiates and drives external architect community events (e.g., conferences, seminars, technical meetups, Webcasts, blogs, hackathons). Acts a mentor to less experienced colleagues by educating them on technical and non-technical concepts and sharing best practices. Serves as an indu str y-leading expert and drives recognition for Microsoft solutions through pre sen tations and engagements with external audiences and publishing white papers around key technical topics and/or architecture design templates.
