Role and Responsibilities
The Global Architecture team is responsible for defining, refining, and guiding the execution of long, medium, and short-term visions for our systems, as well as for major investments and innovation across our product suite. In this role, you'll report directly to our Chief Architect and will be a close partner with Senior Engineering and Product Leadership.
Our tech stack includes a mixture of Erlang, Go, Java, Scala, JavaScript, GitHub Actions, Concourse, and Kubernetes running on a hybrid AWS cloud mix. The ideal candidate will have architected big data systems in AdTech, Data Management Systems, and has hands-on experience with streaming, batch, and data lake/warehouse/etc. architectures.
You will enjoy this job if you have a passion for software engineering, distributed systems, systems architecture, and big data. You will need to demonstrate breadth across multiple engineering disciplines, while also having depth in several key areas of AdTech. You should have an eye and a knack for some product work (both authoritative and working with product teams in refining and defining their vision). Language agnostic polyglots will excel in this role!
Finally, at Samsung Ads we believe success in an Architect role specifically requires strong communication skills along with technical expertise. After all, it's one thing to be right, it's quite another to guide a large organization to get it right. The latter requires teamwork and building understanding, which means you will be expected to work well with others and lead through influence as well through code.

Skills and Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Build high throughput high availability, cloud based, distributed platforms
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas to peers and distributed teams
- Contributing towards building a system with a test-driven development/Agile approach
- Rapid deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting around the cloud hosted environments
- Working on relevant data pipelines to power targeting, attribution, acr, etc. data on the platform
- Design and develop new Modules and features.
- Review Tech specs from different Teams
- Mentor and Train other Engineers
- Deliberately build an understanding of the entire system, dependencies, and where your product area and components fit in a larger picture
Necessary Skills/Attributes
- 12+ years of professional experience in platform engineering and architecture with a significant portion of this experience in the Ad Tech vertical
- Experience in backend Ad technologies such as RTB, DSP, and DMP.
- Experience with working with multiple software programming languages like Golang, Java, Scala, C++, C, Rust
- Experience using message brokers (such as Kafka, Kinesis)
- Experience using caching technologies (such as Aerospike, Memcached, Elasticache)
- Big Data technologies and languages (Spark, Hadoop)
- Exposure and knowledge of high throughput systems (1M TPS traffic or higher)
- Previous experience rearchitecting a legacy platform from monolithic systems to a distributed microservice environment
- Extensive experience on large-scale multi-tier cloud applications and environments
- Extensive experience with Amazon AWS, and other Amazon cloud offerings
- Experience working with Snowflake, Snowpipe, and related technologies
- Experience working in multi-threaded & concurrency-driven environments and an understanding of the benefits and pitfalls of concurrency
- Experience with working on high volume streaming and batch Data Pipeline
- Experience in Automation and Load Testing Frameworks.
- Strong understanding of system performance and scaling
- Strong knowledge in Computer Science foundations
- BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
