REGIONAL SAFETY MANAGER AT PRIMEFLIGHT

The Regional Safety Manager, reporting to the Senior Director of Safety and Security, is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Safety Management System (SMS) at the station level. This role provides support to operational leaders on key safety areas, including Ground/Ramp Safety, Fueling Safety, and Passenger Service Agent Safety, while ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The manager is also tasked with executing processes, procedures, and tools to enhance safety standards and position the company as the Ground Handler of choice. Additionally, they lead safety initiatives aimed at protecting employees, passengers, and property while meeting operational, customer service, and financial objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and ensures safety initiatives at assigned stations, focusing on reviewing ground handling and safety policies, procedures, and identifying risks, threats, trends, and best practices to continuously improve the SMS
  • Conducts quality and compliance checks on ground safety activities, including monitoring employee safety, SOP adherence, and reviewing vehicles, aircraft, and ground service equipment
  • Serves as the station SMS expert, providing training and coaching on Safety, Quality Assurance, and Human Factors to support employees and management in safety and QA operations
  • Manages the internal Quality Program to monitor compliance with FAA regulations, IATA safety standards (ISAGO/ISARPS), and business partner SOPs
  • Ensures the effective implementation of safety policies at the station and adherence to safety and security requirements at the city, state, and federal levels, including OSHA
  • Conducts regular self-audits, identifies root causes of vulnerabilities, implements corrective actions, and verifies their effectiveness
  • Supports the stations in meeting their safety objectives and priorities
  • Provides reports on safety performance to the senior leadership
  • Oversee the administration of safety incident reports and non-compliance activities ensuring all management are effectively trained and able to identify and resolve workplace hazards
  • Assists the station management team with identifying, investigating and managing incidents, ensuring that all have prioritized corrective or preventative actions
  • Acts as designated investigator of safety incidents/accidents where required
  • Provides oversight and assistance to ensure all Corporate Safety programs have been implemented, validated and under the responsibility of an appropriate manager
  • Determines Stations Safety, processes, procedures, tools, roles and responsibilities and metrics
  • May be assigned other duties as required

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Experience with FAA Safety Management Systems and operating in airport environments
  • High School education or GED required, Associate Degree, or higher preferred
  • Understand Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • Understand Financial Principles
  • Health & Safety Auditing Skills and Techniques
  • Accident Investigation Training or Experience
  • Intermediate/Highly proficient Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documents
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours on occasion to support our field operations
  • This is a hybrid position which requires working three (3) days each week at a PrimeFlight location - This could be at the corporate office in Sugarland, Texas, or at any of the below airport locations (FLL, MCO, ATL, DFW, BWI, PHL, MCI, DEN, SFO, JFK, LGA, JAX or SEA)
  • Travel could be up to 50%
