Summary

Corient is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tax Associate to join the Corient Tax Practice, which provides Tax Planning and Compliance Services to sophisticated high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, trusts, estates and private foundations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare individual, trust, estate, gift, foundation, and business tax returns on a timely basis
  • Review tax source documents and data pushed through OCR for accuracy
  • Conduct tax research to support tax planning and compliance efforts
  • Be proactive and stay current on new tax legislation and tax reform
  • Assist with handling Federal and State Tax notices
  • Maintain detailed and organized tax files, including documenting all relevant information and supporting documents for tax returns.
  • Collect and input relevant financial records into tax return software or databases.
  • Analyze tax data submitted by clients to maximize the outcome to the client.
  • Support the tax planning process for clients and members of the Tax team.

Qualifications

  • Solid accounting and knowledge of tax laws and regulations in general.
  • Experience in preparing individual, trust and business tax returns.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and tax applications (e.g. CCH Axcess).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior problem-solving abilities as well as good decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage a variety of projects accurately and simultaneously within strict deadlines.
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service and exhibits a sense a of urgency to complete work in a timely and accurate manner
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university required; Master’s in Taxation or Accountancy preferred
  • Active CPA licensed or seeking CPA license preferred
  • 1 to 3 years of prior work experience as a tax preparer preferred, but not required (Big 4 Experience Preferred)

Pay Information

The pay range for this position is $60,000 -80,000 per year. We are required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Corient seeks to make reasonable accommodations that enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties when possible.
  • This position may require the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • This position is required to work onsite 4 days per week.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation; any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation.

Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. Corient will require proof of work authorization.
