Job Description

The Internal Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role in developing and executing internal communication strategies for ALSAC business partners. This position involves creating compelling content and supporting events across various internal communication channels. These channels include those related to ALSAC’s operations, Strategic Plan, fundraising and awareness programs, activities at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and employee culture and engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about informing and inspiring internal audiences, possess strong writing and project management skills, be a strategic thinker and creative problem-solver, and work collaboratively within the Internal Communications team and with various departments.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Distribution:

  • Develop and distribute internal communications content, including newsletters, intranet stories, announcements, emails, digital signage, presentations, talking points, and speeches.
  • Ensure content is accurate, clear, and engaging, adhering to department and enterprise standards.
  • Gather information through interviews with internal subject matter experts and research institutional and online resources.
  • Utilize AP Style and create visually compelling content by selecting relevant stock images or original photographs.

Support Employee Engagement

  • Promote organizational meetings, events, and activities to support employee culture and engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of these initiatives.

Strategic Communication Development

  • Collaborate with the Internal Communications team to develop and implement communication strategies that align with organizational and business partner goals.
  • Ensure the development of tactics, timelines, and milestones to meet deadlines.

Proactive Communication Efforts

  • Drive internal communications efforts and strategies proactively.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Content Review & Approval

  • Ensure all content is reviewed and approved by business partners and team leaders.

Relationship Building

  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with key internal partners.
  • Establish rapport and credibility with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Effectiveness Monitoring

  • Monitor, analyze, and report the effectiveness of internal communication efforts.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement.

Content Calendar Management

  • Help maintain a content calendar to ensure timely and relevant communication with employees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Previous internship or work experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or corporate communications.
  • Familiarity with internal communication strategies and content creation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in news writing, communication planning, and project management.
  • Experience working with content management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design and video editing software is a plus.
