Workforce Services is the services division of HP and is critical to building differentiated, long-term experiences for our customers and channel partners. This role supports Collaboration solutions, a division within WS where we design, maintain, and upgrade in-office and “everywhere” meeting solutions. Our acquisition of Poly in 2022 increased our brand recognition and reach as well as our IP in this space.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced market researcher in our Customer & Market Insights team supporting our collaboration solutions division (Poly). You will also own all research and research application for the business unit; you will support 1-2 senior leaders and their teams on end to end research initiatives, from early-stage idea testing to product development research to brand studies/creative testing. You will own research for this category, and become a valuable advisor to the business using primary insights, secondary data, and market trends to help the product teams make better decisions about our roadmap. Similarly, you will work closely with marketing to illuminate & action our playbook to the needs and buying behavior of the buyers, the users, and the intermediaries (channel, retail partners) who sell these solutions.

Note: This is a Houston-based role and the expectation is that you’ll be in the offices 3 days/week.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Creatively and quickly develop a learning plan to further business priorities and close vital information gaps.
  • Manage 7 or more research studies or analyses at a time (some for Poly, some division-wide).
  • Besides conducting primary research, you will also regularly pull data from secondary studies, analyst reports, social listening tools, google search, customer reviews data and share in staff meeting and other forums. We are scrappy here sometimes.
  • Key to success is to build relationships with product & engineering, marketing, sales, media, data science, and channel partners.
  • Use research and insights to drive cultural change within the organization and ensure stakeholders put consumers at the heart of their planning and strategic thinking.

What We’re Looking For

  • Hands on with survey programming, writing surveys, moderating focus groups, and analyzing data in Excel or similar databases.
  • Highly visual storytelling – ability to synthesize disparate data into an insightful, compelling point of view.
  • Excellent writer, both grammatically and in choosing the right words.
  • Comfortable presenting and collaborating with all levels of the organization.
  • Implements new ways to overcome obstacles and demonstrates a willingness to take calculated risks.
  • Doesn’t shy away from complex or fuzzy problems, sometimes in new territory.
  • Sense of urgency to finish things on time and make sure everything/everyone is lined up to make that happen.

Education & Experience Recommended

  • 7+ years of direct experience in leading primary market research.
  • BS/BA in business, marketing, research, or equivalent experience. Masters is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of b2b companies, tools, trends (e.g., SaaS, commercial hardware company experience).

  • Extensive experience leading focus groups, IDIs – ideally, some moderation experience for internal focus groups

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $107,650.00 -- $165,800.00 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
