Responsibilities:

  • Architect and design cloud-based solutions for NIH s AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, and OCI environments, adhering to security and compliance best practices.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, and other automation tools to provision and manage cloud resources.
  • Collaborate with NIH s Cloud Operations and Security Team to assess and adopt new cloud technologies.
  • Configure and manage virtual networks, storage, databases, and identity services within cloud platforms.
  • Integrate NIH s cloud environments with on-premises systems, such as NIH Login and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
  • Ensure cloud environments meet FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53 security compliance requirements.
  • Develop automated governance frameworks and implement compliance controls across NIH s multi-cloud infrastructure.
  • Support the implementation of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing tools within NIH s cloud environments.
  • Document cloud architecture, configurations, and best practices, ensuring that cloud environments are optimized for performance, security, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot cloud-based systems and provide advanced technical support during incidents and outages.
  • Work closely with NIH researchers and IT staff to optimize the cloud infrastructure for specific research and data science workloads.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or cloud architecture.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, and OCI cloud platforms, including services such as networking, storage, and compute.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security frameworks and compliance standards (FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud automation, and version control systems like GitHub.
  • Proven ability to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams to deliver cloud solutions.

Preferred Certifications:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect
  • CISSP or other cloud security certifications
