Job description

  • Assist in the creation of lightweight, compliant, and airworthy components and structural assemblies that meet design criteria and producibility standards.
  • Conduct structural analyses for both primary and secondary structures and their systems.
  • Develop innovative technical solutions to challenging problems independently, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Execute detailed 3D designs and produce CAD drawings and associated documentation.
  • Create, evaluate, and authorize structural substantiation reports and other engineering documents based on capabilities.
  • Effectively manage time and organization to work productively while adapting to various demands.
  • Take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion efficiently.
  • Manage multiple priorities while focusing on overarching project objectives.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork and communication skills, along with experience in leading teams.
  • Maintain strong communication skills and adeptness in standard PC applications (such as MS Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
  • Document and troubleshoot component issues while providing technical mentorship to staff.
  • Participate in and present findings at internal and external design reviews.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor s degree in Aeronautical Engineering or a related field.
  • Between 10 to 15 years of design experience in engineering, specifically within the spacecraft or aerospace industry, progressing from conceptual design to production and installation.
  • 5-10 years of experience utilizing classical hand stress analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in technical report writing, excellent communication skills, fluency in English (both spoken and written), and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in team settings and comprehend design processes from conceptualization to complete 3D modeling, hand calculations, and FEA analysis validation leading to manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge and applicable experience with aircraft structural analysis methods, including hand calculations of mechanical joints using resources like MMPDS, Bruhn, Roark, as well as with aircraft fasteners and materials.
  • Experience in structural and fatigue analysis of mechanical and electronic components.
  • Understanding of regulatory (FAA and/or military) issues related to aircraft design and analysis, including certification and qualification impacts.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience with CAD software (preferably SOLIDWORKS) and a practical understanding of drafting standards (ASME Y14.100).
  • 10 years of experience with detailed FEA methods and/or NASTRAN (FEMAP) for finite element modeling.
  • Experience with composite materials (e.g., fiberglass/carbon fiber) and laminate constructions.
  • Familiarity with fracture mechanics.
  • 5 years of experience with government and FAA regulations and their implications for conformity and compliance (certification and qualification).
  • Experience in testing aerospace components and assemblies to ensure they meet standards.
  • Background in designing sensors (optical/RF/Radar), avionics, and complex kinematic systems.
  • Working knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes, such as machining and rapid prototyping.
  • Experience with test instrumentation and control components (e.g., pressure transducers, thermocouples) and collaborating with engineering personnel to analyze and interpret test data.
