About this role: The Applications Architect shapes the development and implementation of Information Technology (I.T.) strategy, initiatives, and governing policies. They conduct comprehensive reviews of the enterprise, document capabilities, and devise approaches to align technical solutions with business needs. This role assists in defining project direction and solution architecture. The Applications Architect supports I.S. leadership by planning and championing broad initiatives that deliver value to both internal and external stakeholders. They utilize data, technical, and business knowledge to drive the development of capability frameworks at both portfolio and enterprise levels. This position is involved throughout the project life cycle, with a focus on the initiation, feasibility, and analysis phases.

This Applications Architect will provide guidance and information to ensure a consistent vision for new projects within the Operations Technology Portfolio. They will contribute to the development and review of system capabilities and strategies to meet new business requirements. They will serve as the lead technical resource, offering strategic oversight and planning for portfolio initiatives to ensure proper architectural aspects for new projects. Responsibilities include producing detailed component specifications to support new system designs, creating candidate architecture designs to ensure accuracy and fulfillment of requirements, and conducting formal solution architecture reviews for approval by the enterprise architecture and senior management review boards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with Architectural Patterns, strong understanding and application of Design Patterns, Web Development Architecture & Design, Microservice design, and Cloud-native architecture.
  • Knowledge of Web & Microservice frameworks, Kubernetes/Docker containers, SQL and NoSQL database platforms, .NET Core and/or Java architectural and design.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent education and work experience.
