As a Systems Programmer/Analyst, this position helps provide centralized planning, design and management of the units tier-3 infrastructure and services in support of the CITRIS internal technical implementations and operations.

These systems and services are the backbone of the CITRIS centralized IT management environment as well as the foundation for all the consumable CITRIS services and operations externally and internally.

This position serves as a key member of CITRIS's enterprise Disaster Response and IT Incident teams as part of a master business continuity plan under the College Information Security and Policy Office (CISPO). The membership role is extremely sensitive and requires professional status. Team members are on 24x7 call status.

This position serves as one of the tier-3 liaisons between many of the UITS central service units, CITRIS's tier-2 units and the frontline of CITRIS's desktop support environment. It requires a highly technical professional with excellent information project management skills; a thorough technical knowledge of network topography and protocol usage; Windows Server, Linux Server and Apple OS Server architecture and enterprise management; Active Directory usage and implementation as it relates to IU and CITRIS's AD management structure. Further requirements include strong foundations of organizational information assurance, information, and operational risk; strong foundations of strategic and managerial business intelligence; strong foundations in enterprise information systems analysis and design.

This position serves as an integral member to the units Enterprise Technology Support (ETS) teams adherence to IU policy propagation; security systems administration and implementation. The work is performed on critical automated processes, computer systems, networks, databases, information systems, telecommunication systems, and computer policies, procedures, and practices.

Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the reliability, security, performance, and functionality of the unit's enterprise infrastructure systems (including level-3 file services, application and licensing servers, group policy and script server, monitoring servers, database servers, and web servers) for all operational server operating environments.
  • Acts as a technical resource for other unit staff. Work at a high level of all support services responsibilities including computer systems analysis and networking. Database and application development for the timely dissemination of enterprise server services, tools and data for unit staff and customers. Develops and maintains automated unit reporting of unit's server environment.
  • Responsible for analyzing, architecting, implementing, and supporting redundancy solutions within the unit's server environment to ensure robustness and efficiency of support. This includes hardware (e.g. power supplies, network cards, memory, disk), primary storage (e.g. RAID technology, hot swap), and secondary storage (backups (local and remote), vaulting, disaster recovery).
  • Makes recommendations for unit's support services and enterprise server services policies and procedures based on analysis of systems, customer requirements and the unit's server and desktop systems enterprise model. Supports, maintains and enhances units support services and enterprise server services standards and policies.
  • Acts as one of the unit's networking configuration experts and primary contact for networking solutions (configuration, tools) and issues (connectivity, performance).
  • Evaluates, enhances and migrates unit's tier-3 server environment architecture in response to new proven technologies while minimizing exposure and maintenance costs, and enhancing customer service offerings. Then helps the CITRIS Technical team migrate their systems to the new infrastructure.
  • Support unit's customers and staff in direct and indirect use of unit's servers. Including Active Directory Group Policy, login scripts, Organization Unit configuration, Server security, user domain issues and account management.
General Responsibilities
  • Provides experienced analysis and programming related to the design, development, and support of systems.
  • Consults with stakeholder(s) to define system requirements, problems, and proposals; conducts detailed studies, presents detailed requirements/designs to the stakeholder(s), and obtains agreement and approval for proposed updates/changes.
  • Prepares conversion and systems implementation plans and schedules; translates system design to detailed program specifications.
  • Documents systems analysis and programming efforts (changes, new functionality, issue/problem resolution); performs system unit and integration testing and presents final test results to stakeholder(s) and/or leadership.
  • Researches and stays up-to-date with new standards, tools, and emerging technology and services and makes recommendations for possible short-term, mid-term or long-term integration.
  • Ensures that all protocols used in the design and programming of systems are up to date and compliant with university policies and standards.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
