Description

The Maintenance Technician position will be responsible for assisting the Operations Manager in executing an extensive preventive maintenance program and repairs throughout the building.

  • Maintain the building repairs, painting of walls, ceilings, columns and cabinets.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in all types of maintenance, when necessary and as requested.
  • Make regular inspections of the building making note of any area that needs repair
  • Report areas of the building needing repair to supervisor in a timely basis.
  • Perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing and lighting installation, maintenance and repair as needed around the Museum facilities and grounds.
  • Must follow all safety regulations of Science Museum Oklahoma and those outlined by OSHA.

Requirements

  • Three (3) or more years of maintenance experience in general building maintenance. Experience with HVAC, electric, plumbing, or carpentry a plus.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as a forklift, scissor lift, single lift, pallet jack, and dolly to move heavier materials.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of power tools, multimeter, hand tools, and personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to work on a schedule that includes a weekend day.
  • This position requires the employee to drive for business purposes in either their own vehicle or a vehicle provided by the Museum. Employees that drive for business purposes must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check and provide proof of insurance and a valid license to drive on an annual basis.

Working Conditions

This position works in an active and busy museum setting. The position might also work in non-climate controlled areas of the museum such as the warehouse, machine shop, loading docks and outside the building.

  • Work involves completing duties in dark, tight places and working off of a ladder or lift equipment.
  • Work involves frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Position may require work on a flat roof or other outside environments.
  • Position requires work on weekends.
  • Position requires work around and near guest and children in an active museum.
