Overview
The Newport Engineering Office (NEO) department is seeking experienced engineers of all levels to be members of the Simulation/Stimulation (Sim/Stim) software design and development team in Middletown, RI. The Sim/Stim team applies diversified engineering skills to produce simulation and stimulation test products in support of the Command and Control System Module (CCSM) Off-Hull Assembly and Test Site (COATS) facilities for VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA classes of submarines. These Sim/Stim products are deployed at multiple contractor sites in support of tactical systems development and require lifecycle support, maintenance, and technical refresh. The engineers will also interface with customers and/or end users. Some travel is required for certain positions.
This is an opportunity to work with a diverse group of engineers with a strong reputation for producing quality products that greatly support the US NAVY. NEO boasts lab space in addition to development assets that support Sim/Stim development and offers the opportunity to work on large technically challenging projects, but with the flexibility and personal feel of a small office environment. NEO is committed to employee growth and advancement as the key to the success of our group. NEO is located in a small corporate park with plenty of parking and is close to the Naval Underwater Warfare Center (NUWC), local housing, restaurants, and shops. NEO is within driving distance to Providence, Boston, Cape Cod, and Connecticut.
Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allow some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- Eligible for Secret security clearance
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of SW development languages including C++, Java, and Python
- Working knowledge of JIRA and GitLab workflows including code development, review, integration and testing.
- Experience developing requirements specifications, test procedures, test reports and technical manuals
- Knowledge of software test philosophies and software test tools
- Ability to troubleshoot system configuration and hardware problems
- A desire to travel to customer sites to troubleshoot as needed
- Network concepts, programming, and experience with tools such as Wireshark
- Cybersecurity related certification, training, or experience
