Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to lead and manage our firm's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program. This key individual will develop and implement strategies to ensure the technical quality, consistency, and compliance of all our engineering deliverables. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in civil engineering principles, a thorough understanding of industry standards, and a commitment to upholding the highest levels of project excellence.

The functional areas and responsibilities of a QA/QC Manager are as follows:

Responsibilities

  • QA/QC Program Development and Management: Create, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive QA/QC program for all civil engineering projects. Develop checklists, procedures, and templates to guide quality processes.
  • Technical Standards and Training: Define and enforce technical standards within the firm, staying up-to-date with the latest industry codes, design standards, and best practices. Provide training and guidance to engineering staff on QA/QC procedures.
  • Quality Reviews and Audits: Conduct regular audits and in-depth technical reviews of designs, plans, calculations, specifications, and reports to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client requirements.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous documentation of all QA/QC activities, create reports on quality metrics, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Corrective Action and Improvement: Initiate corrective and preventive actions when non-conforming work or processes are identified. Collaborate with project teams to implement solutions and prevent future issues.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs and deliverables meet all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred but not required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in civil engineering design, with at least 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in QA/QC roles.
  • Technical Excellence: Comprehensive technical knowledge in areas such as site development, transportation engineering, water resources, or other relevant civil engineering sectors.
  • Quality Focus: Proven dedication to quality and meticulous attention to detail.

Desired Skills

  • Certifications: Certifications in quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer - ASQ) are highly advantageous.
  • Project Management: Understanding of project management principles and ability to coordinate closely with project teams.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients. Ability to provide clear feedback and guidance.

Salary Description

$120,000 +
