As part of the Information Technology team, the Applications Senior Manager role is responsible for leading our application development team and drive the overall application architecture and strategy. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage a team of application developers, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback
- Assign tasks and projects to team members, ensuring optimal workload distribution and efficient project execution.
- Define and maintain the overall architecture of our software applications, ensuring alignment with business goals, industry best practices, and technology trends.
- Foster a collaborative and productive team environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with product teams, customers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and accurately define scope and success criteria.
- Support the professional development of team members through training, knowledge sharing, and growth opportunities.
- Define and maintain the overall architecture of our software applications, ensuring alignment with business goals, industry best practices, and technology trends.
- Develop and document architectural patterns, frameworks, and standards for application development to ensure consistency and maintainability.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices as well as evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve application performance, scalability, security, and user experience.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
- Occasionally participate in the development and troubleshooting of software defects and issues.
- Strong understanding of SDLC
- Highly proficient in all required programming languages/technologies required (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Typescript, Python, Web, .Net, APIs etc.)
- Experience working with databases, both relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (mongodb, dynamodb)
- Experience with version control, GIT preferred, and CI/CD pipelines
- Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying complex software applications
- Strong understanding of architectural patterns, design principles, and development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps)
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and modern application architectures (e.g., microservices, serverless)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
- Creative thinking and analytical skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or the equivalent in education and work experience
- 7+ years experience developing applications
- 3+ years experience managing and/or leading teams
