General Summary
As part of the Information Technology team, the Applications Senior Manager role is responsible for leading our application development team and drive the overall application architecture and strategy. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of application developers, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback
  • Assign tasks and projects to team members, ensuring optimal workload distribution and efficient project execution.
  • Define and maintain the overall architecture of our software applications, ensuring alignment with business goals, industry best practices, and technology trends.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with product teams, customers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and accurately define scope and success criteria.
  • Support the professional development of team members through training, knowledge sharing, and growth opportunities.
  • Define and maintain the overall architecture of our software applications, ensuring alignment with business goals, industry best practices, and technology trends.
  • Develop and document architectural patterns, frameworks, and standards for application development to ensure consistency and maintainability.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices as well as evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve application performance, scalability, security, and user experience.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
  • Occasionally participate in the development and troubleshooting of software defects and issues.
Technical Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of SDLC
  • Highly proficient in all required programming languages/technologies required (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Typescript, Python, Web, .Net, APIs etc.)
  • Experience working with databases, both relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (mongodb, dynamodb)
  • Experience with version control, GIT preferred, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying complex software applications
  • Strong understanding of architectural patterns, design principles, and development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps)
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and modern application architectures (e.g., microservices, serverless)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Creative thinking and analytical skills
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or the equivalent in education and work experience
  • 7+ years experience developing applications
  • 3+ years experience managing and/or leading teams
