To help us do this essential work, The New York Times is hiring a Communications Intern. The person in this role will join our Communications team and be responsible for assisting the team with all aspects of the communications ecosystem, from researching media pitches, compiling data-driven media coverage reports to creating content for a variety of digital and multimedia platforms and vehicles, telling stories that embody the spirit, strength of character and mission of The Times. The intern will be a trusted steward of our mission and culture across the organization, helping to improve the employee experience for our 6,000 employees, while reinforcing the values that have sustained us over the past 170 years.
We are looking for a talented and creative individual with a strong interest in communications who is resourceful and can work at a fast pace to support external communications efforts across all facets of our organization.
About Our Summer Internships
The hourly rate of base pay for this role is:
$20 — $20 USD

About Our Summer Internships
- The duration is 10 weeks long, starting on June 2, 2025.
- The rate of pay for this role is $20.00 per hour.
- Interns work 35 hours per week.
- Open to Hybrid work based in New York.
- Draft content for a broad range of communications and channels, including digital, print, reports, presentations, newsletters, videos, etc.
- Collaborate with creative professionals to develop multimedia content, including graphics, social and web posts, long-form narratives and videos.
- Maintain media lists, track media coverage, help compile press coverage reports.
- Assist with media inquiries, including coordination of interviews from our newsroom camera, radio interviews and on-site filming of interviews.
- Pitch stories to relevant media outlets and perform public relations research at the direction of External Communications staff.
- Organize and help compile data driven reports on the successes and challenges of the communications team’s efforts.
- Undergraduate student focused on Communications, Public Relations, Media Relations, Project Management, or Writing; a strategic thinker with a strong interest in media relations.
- Familiarity with data software tools
